Two Republican lawmakers are sponsoring a proposed bill that would eliminate Ohio’s need for concealed carry permit (CCW).

Republican Reps. Tom Brinker and Kris Jordan are sponsoring the bill, which would also not require people carrying concealed weapons to inform police officers that they are carrying – individuals would have to inform officers if they are asked.

Those who wish to apply for concealed weapons permit can still do so, which would allow those who obtain it to carry a concealed weapon in other states with reciprocity.

The GOP-controlled House Government Oversight Committee approved the bill along party lines last week.

Other lawmakers and law enforcement officials opposes the law, saying it would take away the training to carry.
