A 70-year-old man was killed Thursday afternoon when his motorcycle struck a trailer being pulled by a truck in Carroll County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 3:20 p.m. Oct. 8 on state Route 39, just west of Fable Road SW in Monroe Township.
Troopers identified the motorcyclist as William R. Burrows, 70, of Sherrodsville.
According to investigators, Burrows was traveling northeast on state Route 39 on a gray 2002 Honda Silver Wing motorcycle.
Ahead of him, a yellow 2000 Ford F-750 Super Duty was pulling a 2022 Gator Made flatbed trailer.
The Ford slowed to make a right turn into a private driveway, and other vehicles traveling between the truck and motorcycle also slowed.
Troopers said Burrows drove off the right side of the roadway and struck the right side of the flatbed trailer.
Burrows was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators said he was not wearing a helmet.
The Ford was driven by Jacky R. Locker, 46, of Dellroy, who was cited for violating Ohio’s commercial driver’s license requirements.
A passenger in the truck, Kevin M. Aeling, 22, of Mineral City, was not injured. Neither was Locker.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Dellroy Fire Department, Carroll County Coroner’s Office and Ohio Department of Transportation.
The crash remains under investigation.
