One man was shot and another was apprehended Sunday afternoon following a shooting in New Philadelphia that sent both individuals to the hospital.
According to a news release from New Philadelphia Police Chief Tessa Pohovey, officers received a report shortly after 4 p.m. Sept. 20 of two 911 hang-up calls originating from 238 Second St. SW. Dispatchers received no answer when attempting to call back.
A third 911 call reported that a shooting had occurred and a man had been shot.
Officers quickly arrived at the scene, apprehended one man and began providing medical assistance to the shooting victim until the New Philadelphia Fire Department arrived.
Both men were transported to the hospital.
Police have not released information about the shooting victim’s condition or the identities of those involved.
Detectives with the New Philadelphia Police Department are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Police believe the shooting was an isolated incident and said there is no active threat to the community.
Additional information is expected to be released as the investigation continues.
