Two juveniles were arrested and firearms were recovered following a shots-fired incident near Lane Field that left a teenage girl injured, according to police.
Officers responded around 4:42 p.m. June 4 to multiple reports of gunfire at Lane Field. When officers arrived, they found a 15-year-old girl who had been struck by a vehicle while fleeing the area after gunfire broke out.
The girl was transported to Akron Children’s Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Investigators recovered multiple shell casings from the scene and reviewed surveillance footage that allegedly showed several juveniles carrying firearms. Police said at least one suspect fired a weapon within 1,000 feet of Miller South School for the Visual and Performing Arts.
According to authorities, detectives with the Gun Violence Reduction Team developed information linking one of the suspects to a residence on Keifer Court. Investigators later obtained and executed a search warrant at a home in the 300 block of Keifer Court.
During the search, officers recovered two firearms believed to have been used in the incident, police said.
Two juveniles who were allegedly observed on surveillance video were located at the residence, arrested and transported to the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center.
A 15-year-old male was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and improperly discharging a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school.
A 16-year-old male was charged with carrying a concealed weapon.
The investigation remains ongoing.
