Three people suffered critical injuries in a two-vehicle crash early Wednesday in Columbiana County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers responded shortly after 1 a.m. to the intersection of state Route 45 and Teegarden Road in Salem Township. Authorities said three individuals involved in the crash sustained life-threatening injuries.
Two of the victims were flown by medical helicopter to Mercy Health in Youngstown, while a third was transported by ground ambulance to the same hospital for treatment.
Investigators remained at the scene Wednesday morning working to determine the circumstances that led to the collision. Additional details, including the identities of those involved and the cause of the crash, were not immediately available.
Firefighters from the Leetonia and Winona fire departments assisted emergency crews at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
