A 37-year-old man died Saturday evening after becoming trapped under a vehicle he was working on at his home in Tuscarawas County, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at approximately 5:35 p.m. reporting an unconscious man pinned beneath a vehicle in Rush Township. Deputies and members of the Uhrichsville Fire Department responded to the scene and found the man under a Chevrolet Suburban. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detective Captain Adam Fisher said preliminary evidence suggests the man had elevated the front end of the vehicle using ramps and was working underneath it when it rolled off the ramps. The vehicle’s movement caused him to become trapped beneath the front driver’s side.

Authorities say the man was home alone at the time of the incident.

The man’s identity has not been released.
