One person was injured and a detached garage was damaged following a fireworks-related incident in Nimishillen Township on Thursday night, according to fire officials.

The Nimishillen Township Fire Department responded to the 2200 block of Eastlawn Street NE around 10:11 p.m. on July 3. While crews were en route, dispatchers with STARCOM reported that the situation had escalated, with the garage now on fire. The call was immediately upgraded to a full response, prompting mutual aid from neighboring departments.

Firefighters arrived to find one victim needing medical treatment and flames in the attic of the detached garage. Crews quickly worked to contain and extinguish the fire, preventing further spread or damage.

Fire officials credited the fast and coordinated response by STARCOM, initial medic crews, and mutual aid agencies for minimizing the impact of the fire.

Assisting departments included the City of Louisville Fire Department, Canton Township Fire, Plain Township Fire, Osnaburg Township Fire, Marlboro Township Fire, and STARCOM Dispatch.

As Independence Day celebrations continue, the Nimishillen Township Fire Department is urging residents to use consumer-grade fireworks safely and responsibly.
