A car slammed into an office building on West State Street in Alliance Thursday morning, causing thousands of dollars in damage but no reported injuries.

Emergency crews responded to the 1200 block of W. State St. shortly after 9 a.m. following reports of a vehicle that had struck the front of the building.

According to officials, a white Buick sedan crashed into the structure after the driver accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake.

Two people — a man and a woman — were in the vehicle at the time. Firefighters had to assist the driver in exiting the car, which had become lodged in part of the building’s entrance.

A wooden support pillar was knocked down in the collision. Waffler estimated damage to the building at around $10,000, with additional vehicle damage expected to be several thousand dollars.

Alliance firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes of the initial call. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
