Officials have identified the 13-year-old boy who died Monday after falling from a trailer during the Memorial Day parade in Green as Matthew Schultz of North Canton.
According to the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office, Schultz was participating in the parade around 11:30 a.m. when he fell from a trailer and was struck by its wheels.
Green Fire personnel, who were already on site for the event, responded immediately. Schultz was transported to Akron Children’s Hospital, where he died from his injuries at 12:04 p.m.
The Summit County Sheriff’s Office said Schultz was a student in the North Canton City Schools district.
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday. The incident remains under investigation by the Summit County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Summit Metro Crash Response Team.
