A 13-year-old boy has died after falling from a trailer during the Green Memorial Day parade, according to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Green.
Authorities said the child fell off the front of a parade trailer that was being pulled by a pickup truck. The incident occurred Monday while the parade was underway.
Green Fire personnel, who were already on site for the event, responded immediately and transported the boy to Akron Children’s Hospital. The Summit County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the child was pronounced dead at the hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
Officials said the boy was a student in the North Canton City Schools district. His identity has not been released.
The incident remains under investigation by the Summit County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Summit Metro Crash Response Team.
