A 33-year-old inmate at the Stark County Jail died after being found unresponsive in his cell on May 8, prompting an investigation by the Stark County Coroner’s Office.
Zachary M.C. Snoeberger, of Canton, had been booked into the jail a day earlier on charges including drug possession, failure to comply, and obstructing official business.
“Jail personnel immediately initiated life-saving measures,” Stark County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Connie Deibel said in an email to JMN. “The Canton Fire Department responded and transported the inmate to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.”
An autopsy is being conducted by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Following Snoeberger’s death, Canton Municipal Court Judge Mary A. Falvey dismissed the charges against him at the request of City Prosecutor Katie Erchick Gilbert.
“There is no additional information to share at this time,” Deibel said.
