Authorities are searching for two parents charged in connection with the death of their 3-year-old son, who was found unresponsive in his bed last week.
According to Canton Police Chief John Gabbard, officers were called to a home at 3125 Gilbert Circle NE around 9:30 p.m. on Monday, May 5, after receiving a report of a young child who was not breathing. The child, identified as Berko Givens, was transported by Canton Fire medics to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
On Friday, May 9, detectives obtained arrest warrants for the child’s parents, Demetres S. Givens, 42, and Jamie L. Thompson, 37, both of Canton. Each faces charges of first-degree felony involuntary manslaughter and second-degree felony endangering children.
As of Monday, police said neither suspect had been located.
