Stark County man killed by falling bale of hay in farming accident

A 75-year-old man was killed Wednesday afternoon after a bale of hay fell on him at a property on Greendale Avenue SW, which has a Massillon mailing address but is located in Brewster.

Stephen Rohr, 75, was working with hay when a bale fell from the top of a stack and crushed him, according to authorities. Rohr was not operating any equipment at the time of the incident.

Emergency responders pronounced Rohr dead at the scene. The Stark County Coroner’s Office confirmed his death.

The incident occurred Wednesday, Jan. 1, in the afternoon. No further details have been released.
