Juvenile riding skateboard on U.S 30 hit, injured in New Year’s Eve crash

The Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash involving a pedestrian that occurred Tuesday evening on U.S. Route 30 in Stark County.

The crash happened at approximately 6:15 p.m. near milepost 22 in Osnaburg Township.

According to investigators, a 39-year-old Louisville woman was driving a white 2019 Chevrolet Equinox eastbound on U.S. 30 when she struck a juvenile male from Canton who was riding a skateboard in the middle of the eastbound lane.

The juvenile was hit and transported to Aultman Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. The driver of the Equinox was not injured.

Emergency crews from Osnaburg Township Fire, Sandy Creek Joint Fire District EMS, and Patriot’s Towing assisted at the scene.

Authorities said alcohol and drugs are not suspected in the crash, which remains under investigation.
