Larry Gardner was sworn in as the new chief of the Minerva Police Department during a ceremony Tuesday evening, the department announced.

Gardner, who previously served as deputy chief, succeeds Chief Dale McDorman, who held the position since February. The department expressed its gratitude for McDorman’s leadership and wished him well as he transitions to a new role in another department.

“Congratulations Chief Gardner! We are happy to have you as our leader and look forward to the future of the department,” the Minerva Police Department said in a statement.

The department also praised McDorman for implementing valuable training techniques during his tenure, noting the positive impact his knowledge and experience had on the team.

Gardner takes the helm as the department’s new leader, with a commitment to continuing the progress made under McDorman’s leadership.
