A police pursuit in Alliance Tuesday evening ended with a crash involving a cruiser and the search for a suspect who fled in a blue 2017 Chevy Camaro.
The incident began shortly before 8 p.m. in the 300 block of East State Street, where officers attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. Police said they had reason to believe criminal activity was involved, prompting the driver to flee southbound on State Route 183.
During the pursuit, an Alliance Police cruiser with two officers inside failed to navigate a series of S-curves heading toward Minerva. The vehicle crashed, causing property damage, including to a retaining wall. Police said the officers were unfamiliar with the sharp turns.
The two officers were transported to a hospital for evaluation and were later released.
A second police cruiser terminated the pursuit after the crash. Law enforcement continues to search for the blue Camaro and its driver.
The Alliance Police Department has not released further details about the suspect or the ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact the department.
