A Stark County man convicted of killing his girlfriend and dumping her body in a Canton park was sentenced to life in prison Monday morning.
Sean Goe, 27, declined to speak when given an opportunity during his sentencing at the Stark County Courthouse.
Goe will serve at least 29 years before becoming eligible for parole.
Prosecutors said Goe brutally beat Raychel Sheridan to death in July before discarding her body in a trash dumpster at Canton’s Mother Goose Land Park. During the trial, Dennis E. Barr, chief of the criminal division of the Stark County Prosecutor’s Office, detailed that Sheridan suffered at least 10 blows to the head.
“The injuries rendered her unrecognizable by photo,” Sgt. Bryan Johnson of the Stark County Sheriff’s Office testified.
Goe’s conviction and sentencing follow a months-long investigation and trial that brought closure to Sheridan’s family and friends.
