Two crashes occurred within a short time span Friday, Nov. 8, resulting in serious injuries for two individuals, according to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.

The first incident was reported at 4:17 p.m. on Steubenville Road near Panama Road, involving a vehicle and a horse-drawn buggy. David Yoder, 35, of Carrollton, who was riding in the buggy, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Aultman Hospital. The horse pulling the buggy initially ran loose after the collision but was safely retrieved without injury. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Glenn Sanderson, 89, also of Carrollton, was cited for the crash.

While first responders were still on the scene of the initial accident, they were called at 4:53 p.m. to a second crash at the intersection of Canton Road (SR 43) and Waynesburg Road (SR 171). The collision involved a pickup truck and a tanker truck. According to reports, the pickup truck, driven by Charles Royer, 78, of Carrollton, was traveling eastbound on Waynesburg Road when it pulled into the path of a northbound tanker on SR 43. The tanker, driven by Melany Alexander, 48, of Cambridge, struck the rear driver’s side of the pickup, causing serious injuries to Royer. A citation for Royer is unknown at this time due to him being transported to the hospital.

Both Yoder and Royer are expected to make full recoveries. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office is investigating both crashes.
