Stark County ranks highest among Ohio’s 88 counties in deer-related crashes, according to recent data from the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Since 2019, there have been 109,644 deer-related crashes throughout the state, with Stark County accounting for 3,137 of those incidents.

US-30 and Interstate 77 have been particular hotspots for these collisions in Stark County. US-30 has seen 234 deer-related crashes over the past five years, while I-77 has recorded 233 crashes in the same period.

So far in 2024, Stark County has reported 379 deer-related crashes, two of which resulted in serious injuries. The data underscores the risks posed to drivers, particularly during peak deer movement seasons in the fall.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol urges motorists to remain vigilant, especially in rural and wooded areas, and to slow down in high-risk zones to reduce the likelihood of deer collisions.
