A traffic stop turned into a pursuit on Monday evening, leading to the arrest of two individuals in Brimfield. Around 9 p.m., Brimfield Police officers attempted to stop a vehicle on Edson Road for a traffic violation, but the driver failed to comply, sparking a chase through Edson and Meloy roads before entering residential neighborhoods.

The driver eventually stopped the vehicle and fled on foot, leaving a second adult and an 11-year-old child inside the car. With assistance from the Kent Police K-9 unit, officers tracked the suspect to a home on Perie Wood Lane in Brimfield. After obtaining a search warrant, officers entered the residence and took the driver into custody without incident. No injuries were reported.

The driver, Michael E. Frampton, 44, of Brimfield, was charged with failure to comply and endangering children, both third-degree felonies. Cheryl Hershberger, 40, of Brimfield, was charged with obstructing justice, a fifth-degree felony.

The Brimfield Police Department noted that additional charges may be filed pending further investigation. They also extended thanks to the Kent Police Department, Kent State Police Department, and the Portage County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in the case.
