Canton drivers, you can pat yourselves on the back — but maybe keep one hand on the wheel while doing so.

A recent study by LendingTree revealed that Canton ranks among the top five Ohio cities with the best drivers, based on incident rates including citations, accidents, and DUIs. The study, which analyzed over 500,000 car insurance form submissions from QuoteWizard, found that Canton had just 14.1 incidents per 1,000 drivers between August 2023 and August 2024.

So, while you’re cruising through town, know you’re in good company — at least compared to cities like Beavercreek, which earned the dubious title of Ohio’s worst-driving city with a staggering 28.8 incidents per 1,000 drivers. Delaware, Lakewood, and Hamilton didn’t fare much better.

At the top of the list is Mentor, a city east of Cleveland, where drivers clocked in with an impressive 10.1 incidents per 1,000. Newark and Mansfield also made the safe-driving honor roll.

While Canton’s streets may not always be pothole-free, at least the drivers are keeping it safe (most of the time). So, next time you’re stuck at a red light, take pride in knowing you’re part of a responsible driving community — just don’t honk too much.
