Minerva Mayor Timothy Tarbet, a dedicated leader known for his passion for the village he served, died suddenly on Sunday, September 22, according to village officials. He was 71.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the sudden passing of our beloved Mayor, Timothy Tarbet,” Minerva Village Administrator Ben Gunderson said in a statement. “Mayor Tarbet displayed unwavering courage, determination, and passion as the leader of our village. His dedication to Minerva was evident in his tireless work and commitment to the community.”
Tarbet, who served as mayor for several years, was a passionate advocate for Minerva and was active on numerous volunteer boards. His leadership and service were deeply appreciated by the community and village staff, Gunderson added.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Mayor Tarbet’s family during this difficult time. We will miss his guidance, his friendship, and his unwavering commitment to Minerva,” Gunderson said.
The mayor’s family shared their grief and appreciation for the community’s support in a post on his Facebook page, noting the suddenness of his passing.
“As most of you know, Minerva Village Mayor passed away Sunday morning. It was very unexpected and we are in shock,” the post read. “Tim loved this little village of Minerva and he dedicated many hours to make it a better place. The only thing he was more passionate about was his family. If you ever talked to him, you know the grandchildren were the topic of conversation. Please say a prayer as we navigate through the sudden, unexpected twist. He will be missed by many.”
Tarbet’s dedication to the village was evident in his extensive community involvement and his commitment to improving the quality of life for residents. He was known for his approachable nature and his genuine concern for the people of Minerva.
Details regarding funeral arrangements have not yet been released. The village is planning to hold a memorial service to honor Tarbet’s contributions at some point in the near future.
