The Marlington High School volleyball team secured its eighth consecutive Eastern Buckeye Conference (EBC) championship and extended its impressive conference winning streak to 65 matches with a victory over Minerva on Thursday night.
The Dukes’ unbeaten streak in conference play dates back to 2018, when they last suffered an EBC loss to Salem. Since then, Marlington has dominated the EBC.
“Last year was special as we made our first state appearance and won the first set,” Marlington head coach Steph Tortola said. “This year, we’re setting our sights on winning districts, regionals, and making another run at the state championship in Dayton.”
Senior leaders Layne Graffice, Jacsyn Hilliard and Claire Battershell have been pivotal to the team’s continued success. With their leadership, the Dukes aim to create lasting memories and build on the foundation of excellence established in recent years.
“We have high expectations and talented athletes who are committed to this program,” Tortola added. “Our goal is to keep pushing forward and make another appearance at state.”
Marlington’s focus now shifts to the postseason as the season nears the end, where they hope to continue their winning tradition and compete for another shot at the state title.
