A tragic incident in Columbiana County on Sunday morning resulted in the death of one individual who was ejected from a vehicle.
The accident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on U.S. Route 30 in West Township, according to the Lisbon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. A 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche, operated by 30-year-old Brandon Barringer from Kensington, veered off course, hitting an embankment before rolling over and causing Barringer to be thrown from the vehicle.
He was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities reported that Barringer was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision, and preliminary investigations suggest that drugs and alcohol may have played a role in the crash.
The Ohio State Patrol (OSP) received assistance from Minerva Fire and EMS and the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office in responding to the scene.
OSP is urging all motorists to buckle up and refrain from driving under the influence of substances.
