The Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred Saturday evening on U.S. Route 30 at the intersection of Broadway Avenue NE in Stark County.
At approximately 6:26 p.m., a 1996 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck driven by Jacqlyne Lindberg, 34, of Canton, was traveling southbound on Broadway Avenue NE. Lindberg attempted to make a right turn but traveled left of center, striking a 2019 Jeep Cherokee head-on, according to the Highway Patrol.
The Jeep was driven by Michael Osborne, 66, of North Canton, who was traveling eastbound on U.S. Route 30. After the collision, both vehicles veered off the left side of the roadway and came to rest in a field.
Lindberg was transported by Osnaburg Township EMS to Mercy Hospital with life-threatening injuries. She was pronounced dead later that evening by the Stark County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Osborne was taken to Aultman Hospital by Louisville Township EMS with serious injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Investigators reported that Lindberg was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. The Highway Patrol stated that alcohol and/or drugs are factors in the incident.
The crash remains under investigation.
