The Stark County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred late Sunday night in Paris Township.
At approximately 10:29 p.m. on August 25, 2024, deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 16000 block of Coldale Street NE following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found 37-year-old Ashley Rose Shumaker, a resident of the home, deceased from an apparent single gunshot wound.
Another household member involved in the incident has been identified and is currently cooperating with the investigation. The sheriff’s office has not released further details at this time.
Major Ryan Carver with the Stark County Sheriff’s Office tells JMN that they believe the incident is isolated and the community is not in any danger.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Stark County Sheriff’s Office at (330) 430-3800 or provide tips anonymously through the tip line at (330) 451-3937.
The incident remains under investigation.
