The Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred late Friday night, August 16, at approximately 11:15 p.m. The incident took place at the intersection of Faircrest Street SW and Dueber Avenue SW.
According to authorities, 47-year-old Brak V. Hayhurst of Canton was riding a black 2009 Yamaha motorcycle southbound on Dueber Avenue when he collided with a white 2006 Subaru driven by 21-year-old Nicole A. Christman, also of Canton, who was traveling westbound on Faircrest Street.
Initial investigations indicate that the Yamaha struck the Subaru within the intersection. Hayhurst was pronounced dead at the scene, while Christman sustained no injuries.
Emergency responders from Canton Township Fire and EMS, along with the Stark County Coroner’s Office and Rupple’s Towing, were dispatched to the crash site.
Investigators stated that alcohol and drug use do not appear to be factors in the crash. Christman was wearing a safety belt at the time of the incident, while Hayhurst was not wearing a helmet.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
