The Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle that occurred on August 13, at approximately 9:55 p.m. at the intersection of Tuscarawas Street West and Bordner Avenue.

Timothy Carpenter, 37, of Canton, was riding a 2023 Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound on Tuscarawas Street West when the collision occurred. Chantel Buie, 24, also of Canton, was driving a 2015 Dodge Dart westbound on Tuscarawas Street West and attempted to make a left turn onto Bordner Avenue when the motorcycle struck her vehicle.

Carpenter was pronounced dead at the scene by the Stark County Coroner’s Office. Buie did not sustain any injuries in the incident.

Emergency responders, including Perry Township Fire and EMS, the Perry Township Police Department, the Stark County Coroner’s Office, and Belden Village Towing, were dispatched to the scene.

Authorities indicated that alcohol and drug use are not suspected to be factors in the crash. Both drivers were wearing safety gear at the time of the incident; Carpenter was wearing a helmet, while Buie was secured with a safety belt.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash remains ongoing.
