The Canton Police Department is investigating a child death in the city that happened Tuesday morning.

According to police, officers were dispatched to 1608 10th St NE with Canton Fire for an 11-month-old who appeared to have stopped breathing. The child, identified as Royal’e Rush, was transported to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital where he died a short time later.

Officers located both parents and a one-year-old who resided in the home as well. The parents were both arrested and the 1-year-old was removed from the home by responding officers.

Both parents are facing charges in connection to Royal’e’s death.

Eric W. Rush 26, is facing charges of Permitting Child Abuse (F1), Endangering Children (F2) and Domestic Violence (M1). The mother, Tyasia R. Singleton, 30, faces the same charges as Rush.

In the police report, Rush told police that the child was having an issue keeping food down for several months and they were going to take him to the doctor soon.

The parents are accused of not properly feeding Royal’e or providing medical care.

During the course of the investigation inside the home, officers located two loaded firearms sitting in plain view on the living room TV stand. Police confiscated them while inside the home for the safety of everyone involved.
