The Jackson Township Police Department is currently investigating an alleged sexual assault incident at Jackson Memorial Middle School in Stark County.
According to Jackson Police Major Jim Monigold, the incident reportedly occurred on April 29 and involved two junior high students from the school. No staff members were involved in the incident.
Jackson Local Superintendent Chris DiLoreto stated that the matter was immediately referred to the Jackson Township Police Department. The school district conducted an initial internal investigation before handing over the findings to the police for further investigation and determine potential criminal misconduct.
Superintendent DiLoreto emphasized the district’s commitment to the safety and security of its students and staff, noting that supportive measures are in place for those affected by the incident.
The district is cooperating with law enforcement but will not provide further comments to protect the integrity of the investigation and comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
