The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Lisbon Post is currently investigating a two-vehicle double-fatal crash that took place on US 62 near Mile Post 5 in Knox Township, Columbiana County at 10:50 a.m.

According to reports, a 2002 Black Chevrolet Suburban was heading eastbound on US 62 when a 2006 Black Chevrolet HHR traveling westbound crossed the center line and collided head-on with the Suburban.

The driver of the Suburban sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital Canton by Sebring EMS. Unfortunately, the driver and passenger of the Chevrolet HHR were pronounced dead at the scene. None of the occupants in the HHR were wearing seatbelts, while those in the Suburban were wearing seatbelts.

Authorities have stated that drugs or alcohol do not seem to have played a role in the crash, which remains under investigation.

The identities of the crash victims have not been released at this time.

Emergency response teams from Sebring Fire/EMS, Damascus Fire/EMS, and North Georgetown Fire Department, along with law enforcement from Goshen Police Department and the Ohio Department of Transportation, have all been involved in the incident.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is urging all drivers to prioritize their safety by wearing seatbelts at all times.
