Update: the driver of the passenger vehicle later passed away.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Canton Post is currently investigating a serious injury crash that occurred on Friday, November 24, at approximately 10:55 AM. The incident took place at the intersection of California Avenue and US Route 62 in Nimishillen Township, Stark County.

According to authorities, the collision involved two vehicles.

Vishavpal Singh, a 22-year-old resident of Jamacia, New York, was operating a 2022 Freightliner Cascadia commercial semi-tractor, towing an enclosed cargo trailer, traveling eastbound on US Route 62. Christopher Lee Brogan, a 36-year-old from Louisville, Ohio, was driving a 1994 Honda Civic heading north on California Avenue, approaching the intersection with US Route 62.

Both vehicles entered the intersection simultaneously, resulting in a collision between the Freightliner and the Honda Civic. Following the impact, the Honda Civic veered off the roadway and struck a traffic sign in the median of US Route 62.

Singh, the driver of the Freightliner, escaped the crash unharmed. However, Brogan sustained serious life-threatening injuries as a result of the accident. He was promptly transported from the scene to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital by Nimishillen Township EMS.

Assisting the Ohio State Highway Patrol at the crash site were the Louisville Police Department, Ohio Department of Transportation, Nimishillen Township Fire Department, and Canton Towing.

Authorities have ruled out alcohol and drug use as contributing factors to the crash. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and further details are yet to be determined.
