Victim in critical condition after shooting in Canton

The Canton Police Department is investigating a shooting that left a person hospitalized early Monday morning.

Officers were dispatched to the 3600 block of Ellis Ave NE in Canton for reports of a person who possibly had a firearm just after midnight.

When officers arrived to the scene, they located the victim inside the residence with an apparent gunshot wound to the head and was unresponsive.

The victim, who has not yet been identified, was transported to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital by the Canton Fire Department and is listed as in critical condition.
