A Stark County officer is being praised for his heroic actions early Sunday morning in Marlboro Twp.
In a daring early morning rescue, Marlboro Township Police Officer Marc Merriweather demonstrated exceptional bravery and commitment to duty, saving multiple lives from a house fire at approximately 6:45 AM on Tope Street.
Upon receiving the distress call, Officer Merriweather wasted no time and entered the blaze, ensuring the safe evacuation of all occupants. The situation was particularly dangerous due to a burning propane tank situated just outside the home.
The officer’s body camera captured the intensity of the rescue, showcasing the chaotic and dangerous conditions he faced. A clip from his body camera reveals Officer Merriweather knocking on the door to notify the family about the fire and helping to escort an elderly occupant from the home.
Following the evacuation, Officer Merriweather was treated with oxygen at the scene by the emergency medical personnel and continued his shift throughout the day.
None of the occupants of the home were injured.
