An East Canton man lost his life in an accident involving a motorcycle and an SUV on Thursday, September 7, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on U.S. Route 30 near Wenger Road in Sugar Creek Township.
The Wooster Post reported that both vehicles were traveling in the westbound lanes of U.S. Route 30 when the SUV began to slow down to make a left turn. The motorcycle, driven by 21-year-old Jackson Fimple of East Canton, collided with the back of the Dodge Durango.
As a result of the impact, Fimple was thrown from his motorcycle and landed in the grassy median. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries while being transported to a nearby hospital, according to officials.
Troopers investigating the incident revealed that Fimple was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. While the exact cause of the accident is still under investigation, authorities believe that impairment may have played a role.
The driver of the SUV emerged from the collision unharmed.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident to determine the exact circumstances that led to this tragic loss of life.
