A Jackson Township Firefighter was transported to a local hospital following a fire Wednesday afternoon.
Crews were dispatched to a home along Beckleigh Circle NW for reports of a residential house fire. The caller informed the authorities that all occupants of the house and two dogs had safely evacuated, but one dog was still trapped inside the burning home.
The dog had been trapped in the upstairs of the house as flames were observed spreading at the rear of the house.
The firefighting efforts were further challenged by high ambient temperatures and escalating wind conditions, but the collaborative efforts of the Jackson Township Fire Department, along with the fire departments from Massillon, Plain Township, and North Canton, led to the extinguishment of the fire.
One firefighter sustained non-life threatening injuries during the rescue. The injured firefighter was transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention and is currently receiving treatment.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
