“At the Massillon City School District, the safety and well-being of our students is always our top priority,” Massillon Superintendent Paul Salvino said in statement to JMN.
Salvino confirmed to JMN that the school district is currently investigating a situation that involves multiple student-athletes within the athletic program. Sources with knowledge of the incident say the student-athletes involve members of the Massillon football team.
The Massillon Police Department confirmed to JMN that they were notified on June 27 about the alleged incident that took place on Massillon High School property the day before on June 26. Details surrounding the alleged hazing incident have not been made public or confirmed by authorities.
“State and federal student privacy laws prohibit us from providing details,” Salvino noted. “However, it is important to know that our administration is addressing the issue”
