A man was seriously injured following a work-related accident at TimkenSteel’s Faircrest plant Tuesday morning.

According to a release from TimkenSteel’s corporate office, a third-party contractor sustained injuries in an accident at the Faircrest facility around 8:15 a.m.

Emergency services were notified and responded to the incident.

The third-party contractor worked for RG Smith. He was pinned while operating a scissor lift, according to a source familiar with the incident. It’s unclear how the accident happened.

“The safety and well-being of all individuals on our premises are of utmost importance to TimkenSteel and the company continues to investigate the cause of the accident,” TimkenSteel said in a statement.

OSHA responded to the plant following the accident.

The condition and extent of the injuries to the contractor are unknown at this time.
