In a late-night incident near the 600 block of Cleveland Ave, a hit-and-run accident occurred involving a moped and a second vehicle Wednesday evening, according to information provided by the Canton Police Department.
The incident took place on Wednesday night when the moped was traveling on the shoulder of the roadway. The second vehicle, which fled the scene, collided with the moped. As a result of the collision, the victim sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for medical attention, according to Lieutenant Dennis Garren.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect vehicle, which left the scene after the incident, may have been carrying some form of load. It appears that an unsecured refrigerator door swung out of the bed of the suspect vehicle and struck the victim. However, further details about the suspect vehicle or its occupants are yet to be determined.
The Canton Police Department is actively investigating the hit-and-run incident.
As the investigation continues, authorities are urging motorists to exercise caution on the roads and to report any suspicious or potentially dangerous activity promptly.
Updates regarding the investigation will be provided as more information becomes available.
