Law enforcement officials are investigating the deaths of a pair of twin infants who were found dead in a trash can Saturday evening in Cleveland.

Officers responded on May 20, 2023, at approximately 7:20 p.m., to a distressing report at a residence in the 2800 block of Ludlow Road. The report indicated the discovery of two deceased infants inside a garbage can. Tragically, upon arrival, authorities confirmed the presence of the lifeless infants at the scene.

The gravity of the situation prompted the immediate involvement of the Homicide Unit, whose members arrived to initiate a thorough investigation. Preliminary information suggests that the infants, born several days prior, were the children of a 16-year-old female. The mother, identified but not named, was located and promptly transported to a local hospital for necessary medical treatment. She has been arrested.

Investigators intend to present the facts to the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office for further evaluation. The motive and circumstances surrounding this distressing incident remain under investigation, leaving many questions unanswered.

Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
