Akron police officers responded to a shooting in the 1400 block of S. Main Street this morning at approximately 11:37 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers found two males, aged 26 and 29, with gunshot wounds in front of a residence. A third victim, a 25-year-old male, was discovered moments later in the 40 block of E. Emerling Street. Officers provided medical assistance to the victims until EMS arrived. All three were transported to area hospitals with various injuries.

Sadly, the 29-year-old male died from his injuries. The names of the victims are being withheld pending family notifications. The two surviving victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Preliminary information suggests that an altercation between the three men escalated into an exchange of gunfire, resulting in their injuries. Investigators recovered at least two handguns and other evidence from the scene. No arrests have been made, and the incident remains under investigation.
