The Carrollton Warriors dominated the Maysville Panthers in the sectional title game, winning 6-0.

The game took place at Carrollton’s Field of Dreams. Being state ranked, the Warriors showed their prowess.

Carrollton’s Landon James made an impressive impact early in the game, hitting a three-run homer in the first inning. His hit brought Cayden Rininger and Cadyn Smith home, giving Carrollton a quick 3-0 lead.

“That was a big boost for us. A sigh of relief to start quickly in a playoff game,” Carrollton Coach Brian Connelly said following the Warriors victory.

James displayed his arm strength from behind the catcher’s position, throwing out a runner attempting to steal second.

The Warriors didn’t stop there. They continued to score in the second, fourth, and fifth innings, adding solo runs to their tally.

John Birong recorded two hits and one run for Carrollton.

Hayden Jenkins got the start on the mound for the Warriors, pitching the first three innings and striking out four batters. Isiah McConnell and Smith split the pitching duties of the final four innings, both striking out a pair of batters.

Smith and Cooper Haun each recorded one RBI each for the Warriors.

In the end, Carrollton’s consistent scoring and strong performance secured their victory in the sectional title game against the Maysville Panthers.

Carrollton will face Indian Valley on Monday in the district semifinal. Location of the game has not been announced at this time.
