Stark County Sheriff’s Office to Conduct Sobriety Checkpoints in Jackson Township
Stark County Sheriff George T. Maier has announced that the Stark County Sheriff’s Office, along with other members of the OVI Task Force, will be conducting sobriety checkpoints in Jackson Township on Friday, May 5, 2023.
The checkpoints will begin at 7:00 p.m. at 4350 Dressler Rd NW and at 9:30 p.m. at 4333 Everhard Rd. NW. The officers will conduct a roadside check of drivers for alcohol and drug impairment.
In a statement, Sheriff Maier advised that the officers will be vigilant in detecting and apprehending impaired drivers. He also urged the public to plan for a designated driver or make other arrangements if they plan to consume alcohol.
The purpose of the sobriety checkpoints is to reduce the number of alcohol and drug-related accidents and fatalities on the road. By conducting these checkpoints, law enforcement officers hope to deter people from driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The Stark County Sheriff’s Office and the OVI Task Force encourage the public to drive responsibly and safely. If you plan to drink, make sure to plan ahead and arrange for a safe ride home.
