The New Philadelphia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash near Dellroy (Monroe Township in Carroll County). The incident, which occurred on County Road 11 (Antigua Road), claimed the life of one individual who was riding a motorcycle.

According to the report, the accident happened on May 5th at approximately 6:58 am. Travis Shull, a 53-year-old resident of Sherrodsville, was driving a 2007 BMW motorcycle eastbound on County Road 11.

Troopers say Shull attempted to pass a passenger car and a water tank straight truck when the water truck made a left turn onto an access road. The motorcycle hit the truck’s left front tire, causing it to go off the north side of County Road 11 and into a ditch. Shull was ejected from the motorcycle, and he died on the scene. Carroll County Coroner, Manda B. Haas M.D. pronounced him deceased.

Darrick Smith, a 35-year-old resident of Navarre, was driving the 2017 International Water Truck at the time of the accident. The truck is owned by Johnny On The Spot LLC of Canton.

The area of the crash was marked with a double yellow center line, and Shull was wearing a helmet during the accident. The report also stated that alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.

Assistance at the accident was provided by the Ohio State Patrol, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Dellroy Fire Department, Sherrodsville Fire Department, and Regional EMS. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
