Minerva’s Roxy Theatre and Krackpots Comedy Club of Massillon present nationally touring comedian Pete George for one night only, Friday, April 28, 7:30 p.m.
By 1985, George had established himself as one of Cleveland’s top lead guitarists, when he was called up to join the original alternative rock group, “Separate Checks.” Around the same time, his quick wit and onstage banter prompted calls for him to try his hand at stand-up comedy.
By the 1990’s, George’s love of entertaining led to an acting career where he honed his skills performing in theater and numerous TV commercials. In his first film, “The Shawshank Redemption,” he worked alongside Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins. He then went on the road full time where his unique style of stand-up and comedy music earned a large following of fans from across the country.
More than 8,500 comedy shows later, George has headlined Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas and the House of Blues and Hard Rock Casino in Cleveland among others, winning fans and critical acclaim.
Tickets are general admission, with a limited number of front-row/VIP seats, and can be purchased online at eventbrite.com.
Downtown restaurants will be open throughout the evening, and concessions and a food truck will be available at the theater. The village’s Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area will be in effect, 5-10 p.m. Patrons may purchase beverages in official DORA cups from the Normandy Inn, Stoney Inn, Que Pasa Mexican Restaurant, and Sandy Springs Brewing Company and carry them throughout the designated area, including into the Roxy.
