Three killed, including two teenagers, in Carroll County car crash

Three people died Monday afternoon in a two-car crash in Carroll County, according to the New Philadelphia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened on State Route 542 in Monroe Township just outside of Dellroy.

According to OSHP, a 2001 Ford F650 operated by Douglas Mackey, 55, of Diana West Virginia, was heading west on State Route 542.

A 2015 Honda Odyssey heading east on State Route 542 operated by Randy L. Simmons, 60, of East Liverpool was struck by Mackey’s vehicle, which traveled left of center.

Both vehicles continues off the roadway and into a ditch.

Simmons, and two of his passengers, Tina Shelter, 18, and Kenneth Shelter, 16, both of Hammondsville, died in the crash.

In addition to the OSHP, responding to the scene were the Dellroy Fire Department, Regional EMS, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Carroll County EMA, Ohio Department of Transportation, Rocky’s Towing and Rosenberry Towing.
