Woman poses as Child Protective Service worker, kidnaps baby in Canton

A woman from Canton and a man from Conesville, OH are being held on $750,000 bond after a kidnapping plan.

According to Canton Police, Sapphire McDougleh, 31, of Canton, approached a mother in the 700 block of Alan Page Dr wearing a name tag and claiming to work for Child Protective Services.

The mother stated that McDougleh took the her 3-week-old daughter. CPS was contacted and they said the person was not with their department and to notify police immediately.

Canton Police Detectives quickly identified the suspect vehicle using one of their license plate readers. The suspect vehicle was registered in Conesville. Law enforcement officials in Coschocton County were then notified.

The suspect vehicle was spotted in Coschocton County, pulled over and two people in the car were arrested. The baby was recovered unharmed.

McDougleh has been charged with kidnapping. 21-year-old Brandon Savage of Conesville is facing complicity to commit kidnapping.

Both are being held on $750,000 bond.
