The Akron Police Department is investigating a shooting that left an 18-year-old man dead.

According to Lt. Michael Miller with APD, officers were dispatched to a business in the 1000 block of Lovers Lane for reports of a man down. When they arrived to the location, they found the victim in a parking lot, unresponsive.

The 18-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene with one gunshot wound to the torso, according to police. The identity of the shooting victim has not been released at this time, pending identification and family notification.

Detectives believe the homicide may be the results of a shooting that happened Sunday night at 10 p.m. in the area of S. Arlington St and Lovers Lane. Investigators determined there was an exchange on gunshots in the 600 block of Lovers Lane Sunday evening that involved multiple people.

Shell casing and other evidence has been collected and are being processed at this time.
