32-year-old man killed in Akron shooting, investigation ongoing

The Akron Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting of a 32-year-old Tuesday evening.

According to police, officers responded to the 800 block of Haynes Street for reports of a shooting. When they arrived to the scene, they found the 32-year-old man shot and unresponsive inside a car in the driveway.

The victim, who’s name has not been released yet, was transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Based on information gathered in the preliminary investigation, one or more unknown suspects fired at the victim multiple times as he puled into the driveway. The suspects fled the scene.

A residence in the 400 block of W. Bartges Street was also struck by gunfire. None of the occupants inside the home were injured. An uninvolved parked car was also struck.

The investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made; however, detectives are working to identify the person or persons responsible for the incident.
