Two jump from burning home in Canton; multiple people hospitalized New Year’s Day

Three people were sent to the hospitalized Sunday morning in Canton, according to the Canton Fire Department.

“Three adult males were alerted to the fire by smoke detectors, one male escaped out of the front door and the other two jumped from second floor windows,” according to the news release.

Fire officials were notified about the burning home located at 1202 24th St. NE around 9:17 a.m. when neighbors called in the fire.

Two of the occupants of the home suffered substantial burns and were transported to the hospital. Another male inside the home suffered injuries, but the extent are unknown, according to fire officials.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
